I was just wondering how long i should wait to have unprotected sex. I have just stared the pill with in the last few days. My partner and i are really keen to have unprotected sex but we don’t want to end up pregnant as we are both still young. When is that best time to have it or how long should i wait?

Usually 2 weeks but to be very safe i’d wait 1 month.

You need to be on the pill for a month. But even then it is not 100% guarantee. If you are not ready to have a baby, then you shouldn’t be too keen on trying unprotected sex.

if I remember rightly it is a month. So I would recommend a month to be on the safe side

My doctor has always told me to wait until i’ve gone through a whole pack of pills before having unprotected sex.

Well, there should be instructions on those sorts of things that came long with the birth control. With the pill I believe it takes a while to kick in. Looking on the back of directions for a pill I have taken before it says to use another method of birth control as back-up method if you have sex anytime in the first 7 days. So I’m sure that’s probably an average time for most pills, but I would say use a condom for quite a while because everyone’s body is different. And in my “best advice” I’d say to try to use a condom even with birth control pills because they’re not 100% and I know a few people who have gotten pregnant that way. However, the choice is up to you, I’m just here to help! :]

There are usually instructions on the “pills” your taking but it should be atleast a month. If you want to be absolutely sure you should call the doctor that prescribed them to you.

Hi - so you can get pregnant during the first couple of months. WAIT until into the 2nd month.
But here’s the thing - I hope you are in a committed relationship or marriage because to me it’s never safe to not use a condom. Men and women can carry viruses in their bodies like herpes or HPV or HIV for that matter for years without knowing it. Birth control does not protect against these things. I’m on birth control and still use a condom with the boyfriend I’ve been with for 3 years. And don’t let him tell you that it would be a sign of love or so much better without because you can by a Trojan Pleasure Pack - for him and her and it will be incredible - speaking from experience. Oh and if you want some other items to increase the enjoyment go to my favorite site… you will find that condoms are just a little part of the whole experience.
